Moons reflect not the beauty from within,The hurt of a lover, not to be seen.Silently wails, the night of lost love's scene,Joy was certain, had it not been for sin.The flame is weak, passion no longer tall,As bleeding hearts wilt near the dawn of fall.Thy name exists, though not mine, but for all,Romance nears its end, a sad, faithless call.Thou heart is carved, of love for just one man,I tried and failed, no longer fight I can. That name is not mine, my wings cannot span,Pain and sorrow thinking of the failed plan.I wish thee joy,in exchange, my own sorrow,No flower, the bleeding heart may follow.Explanation:Stanza 1:The moon fails to compare to the wonderful feeling of love the persona felt, but the pain and sorrow of a lover, is not made known to anyone. For at night, the persona cries for the lost of his love, feeling perhaps the love he shared with his special someone would have been fruitful, had he abstained from sin.The persona feels that it is heavenly will that rules this love unable to bear fruit.Stanza 2:Following this latest setback, the persona's once burning, passionate love for the girl is slowly extinguishing. It's still there, but no longer strong. The bleeding heart is a very rare and beautiful flower which grows between April and June, but wilts easily the moment Fall arrives. The persona compares his relationship with the girl to the bleeding heart, ever beautiful and rare, but fragile. The persona feels that the girl he loves still cares for him, but it is the same care she'd give to a normal friend. The Persona also knows that their relationship is about to end, and so utters a hopeless, desperate prayer, though he knows, it will not suceed.Stanza 3:The girl fell in love, her love faithful and tested, the persona tried to win her heart, but failed, and can no longer muster the strength to go on.He realises that the name in the girl's heart is not his name, and so, his love and effort has been wasted, as compared to a bird with wings, but unable to use them. The persona spends the rest of his life in sorrow, thinking of what might and COULD have happened, if he acted differently.Couplet:The Persona wishes the girl true happiness in her new romance, while he silently suffers in agony. He feels that perhaps he might meet someone new, but not one can compare to the girl he failed to win.A sonnet consists of 14 lines, each line containing ten syllables and written in iambic pentameter. The rhyme scheme in a sonnet is a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, g-g; the last two lines are a rhyming couplet.
